If today was your last day...

...as I drove home from the gym this morning, it was one of those drives where all is quiet in the car and you are deep thought. About what??...well- countless things. But as I turned on to the street before our street I realized the radio was on but I hadn't heard it all the way home. {due to the deep thought} and as I started to listen I realized it was a Nickleback song I hadn't heard...
{i am a lyrics junkie- i get it from my dad}
So as I pull into our community and as the gates swing open I again realize I had been sitting there, in front of the gates swung wide open- listening to this song trying to catch every word.
It hit me like a ton of bricks for some reason. Reason enough to come home and blog about it....
I open the garage, pull in and sit. Again- listening to every last word. Only to snap out of it to the sound of a little boy's voice in a superman shirt with gel in his hair ask,
"mom- what are you doing?"
Oh! Right son- we are home and you want out of the car.

here are the lyrics:

My best friend gave me the best advice
He said each day's a gift and not a given right
Leave no stone unturned
Leave your fears behind
And try to take the path less traveled by
That first step you take is the longest stride

If today was your last day,
If tomorrow was too late,
To say goodbye to yesterday..
Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past?
Donate every dime you have?
If today was your last day

Against the grain should be a way of life
What's worth the price is always worth the fight
Every second counts cause there's no second try
So live it like you're never living twice
Don't take the free ride in your whole life

If today was your last day,
If tomorrow was too late,
To say goodbye to yesterday..
Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past?
Donate every dime you have?
And would you call old friends you never see..
Reminisce old memories?
Would you forgive your enemies?
And would you find that one your dreaming of,
Swear up and down to God above,
That you'll finally fall in love?
If today was your last day

If today was your last day,
Would you make your mark,
On mending a broken heart?
You know it's never too late,
To shoot for the stars,
Regardless of who you are.
So do whatever it takes,
Cause you can't rewind
A moment in this life.
Let nothing stand in your way,
Cause the hands of time
Are never on your side

If today was your last day,
If tomorrow was too late,
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past?
Donate every dime you have?
And would you call old friends you never see..
Reminisce old memories?
Would you forgive your enemies?
And would you find that one your dreaming of,
Swear up and down to God above,
That you'll finally fall in love?
If today was your last day

makena {again}

So Lexie is in love with this little otter named Makena.
Makena is the class mascot at school.
Only good boys & girls are allowed to bring her home.
Makena has come to meet our family twice!
great job sis!

And as I was taking these 'oh so cute' pics of Lexie and Makena.
I wanted to hop in for one with my baby girl...
not thinking it had been a long day and no make up and my tired face on!
There ya go folks. Is what it is!

I couldn't pick- you decide.
Black & White. Color. Black & White. Color.
Ha! That is currently how my brain is functioning now.

only in Cali

So of course when I had a photo shoot at the beach I had to take advantage...
mi familia.
I am so happy with these pictures.
{gleaming}
The kids were 'somewhat' cooperative...and I was able to capture their bliss.

I can 't tell you enough how happy I am to have made that HUGE leap...
ya' know the photog status...
What I have captured just with my own family has been remarkable...
but more than anything- the fact that I have been able to touch others is worth everything.

the parents

Ahhhh. After all these wonderful blissful years.
Wait...why is your anniversary and my birthday- NEVER MIND! HA!
My WONDERFUL parents.
We love you both so much.
Thank you for EVERYTHING!

for my mom

Okay...so this rarely happens anymore...I am always behind the camera these days.
But my assistant took these shots! HAHA!!!
So you all know that I can ham it up... it has been a while- so I did!
I'm glad we got some pictures of me and mom.
Mom- I love you.

Children's Museum

The kids had a blast at the Children's Museum.
Painted the car.
Played with clay.
Drew with chalk.
What else could possibly be that much fun!?

The Front Desk

Over the intercom:
"Nate Mendez- you have a package at the front desk.
Nate Mendez- you have a package at the front desk."
